Personal History: Giri’s father died when he was very young, leaving his mother, an older sister and two younger brothers destitute. In order to survive, his mother abandoned the children so that another man would marry her. The government placed Giri and his two younger brothers in the Balmandir Orphanage. Since no relatives claim him, Giri Raj spends the long Dashain holiday back at the orphanage.

What makes me special?: Giri is in the 6th grade and is a bright, hardworking student. He is a happy, healthy teenage boy who loves to play football and basketball. His life ambition is to become a doctor. Giri has a hunger for learning and wants to help others. He expresses love and gratitude to his sponsors.
