Personal History: When Laxmi was very young, her father passed away. His wife became mentally ill and was unable to feed or care for Laxmi or her younger sister Lila. At age five, Laxmi was placed in Balmandir Orphange, along with Lila. Her sister Lila is also sponsored by HCC.

What makes me special?: Laxmi, which means “goddess” in Nepalese, is kind-hearted, sweet and gentle. She especially loves to sing, and her favorite music is Nepali folk songs. Her favorite sports are dancing and badminton. Laxmi’s life ambition is to become a singer, but she knows that she needs to work hard in school so that she can have a “plan B”. Her favorite food is “chicken Momos” (Nepalese dumplings), her favorite subject is math, and her favorite color is pink. Whenever an airplane flies overhead, she says that it is good luck, and she hopes that her sponsors are in that plane, flying to Nepal to see her.
