| 32. Pushpa (Age 10) Personal History: As a toddler, Pushba’s father abandoned her mother and twin brother, Harsha, in the province of Darchula, Katmandu. The mother was economically devastated and developed a serious illness. Unable to care for Pushba or Harsha, they were placed at Balmandir orphanage at age 5. The twins spend the Dashein holiday back at the orphanage. What makes me special?: “Pushpa”, which means “spice flower” in Nepalese, is a happy girl who loves to dance, sing and play with other children, but especially loves to play with dolls. Her favorite sport is badminton. Her favorite subjects are science and math, and she wants to be a doctor or a “police-woman” when she grows up. Her favorite color is yellow. She is happy that her twin brother is now together with her at school; Harsha was recently brought from the orphanage by HCC. | |
