Personal History: Rupesh’s parents are unknown. According to the orphanage’s records, Rupesh was about five years old when he was found wandering in the streets of Kathmandu by police. He was placed with a social group who brought him to the Balmandir Orphanage. He has no memories of his parents or of any other life other than at the orphanage. Since he has no relatives, Rupesh spends the long Dashain holiday with the Principal at school, helping her do needed chores around the school (he is one of her favorites!).

What makes me special?: Rupesh is in the 8th grade and is a bright, hardworking student. He loves to sing and to read and is found often absorbed in a book. He is a happy, active, teenage boy who loves playing basketball. His life ambition is to become a doctor so that he can help others. His “Plan B” is to become an accountant like his sponsor. Rupesh wants his sponsors to know that he is happy and thriving at school and wants to meet them one day so that he can express his gratitude, give them hugs, and show them around Nepal.
